So much Putinism here. You do realize just because he's popular doesn't mean he was a good president right? He crush media opposition and uses petro-dollar to buy popularity and raise the GDP.

Of course - he's also an ex-KGB and a 6th Judo master so I'm totally a Putin fan-boy. XD

p.s. Mendelev took over from Putin because the mandate prevented him from running for 3rd term of presidency - so Mendelev took presidency and immediately elected Putin in premiership where he - I assume - continue to run the country. XD

however, the russian government has recently voted to add an year to a presidents term so we may see putin come back in a big way (dunno the outcome of the motion however)

Yesterday was the Ukranian election, and im not sue who won... but the opposition was a pro-russia party, whose leader had personal ties to Putin during his KGB days~
